Driving on the great ocean road through fog, rain and under the greyest sky possible we kept on convincing ourselves that our luck will turn and we would get something magical happening. during the 10minute walk to the viewpoint I had to get my rain cover on my bag, not a great sign! Below is a photo that was taken with my iPhone showing the rather morose state of affairs! We decided to stay on and look for penguins while our magical sunset was hypothetically forming somewhere. Rachel did spot a pair of fairy penguins just below the path but too far for any usable shots, a great sight nonetheless!
I had the Canon EOS 1DX II and the Canon EOS M5 setup pointing at different directions trying to cover the two sides as I noticed the light was changing a fair bit! The difference in light in the shots below really show how important it is to try your luck and stick with a location once you are there, even in poor light, it might all change!
A little behind the scene bonus. Rachel was kind enough to safeguard the M5 that was time-lapsing while I went back to the other side to capture a different angle.
