In July (2010) I spent three days in the North Section of the National Park and later five days in the South Section of this National Park located on the Sunshine Coast (Queensland). As usual it was for volunteer work purposes but my camera was always in my bag. For those interested here is a map of the park . There are quite a few cool hikes there.

Photo of the Day

This little one was found on a cold winter night. It’s one of the two frogs that were present on the transects. Winter is not the greatest time for frogging but this Litoria gracilenta is the proof that they are around. It made the EarthShot of the day on EarthShots.orgJ’ai trouvé cette grenouille par une nuit glacée d’hiver.

Sunset viewed from Carlos Point.

One of the glorious sunsets that I was able to see and capture. I was so focused looking at the clouds that I did not notice a Brahminy kite sitting 2m away from me, when I finally realised it’s presence it was already taking off.

Oddly this young Rough-Scaled Snake (Tropidechis carinatus) was also seen on a really cold night probably hunting for frogs. I made sure it was peaceful before getting closer with the macro lens because this snake has very dangerous venom.

While waiting for the right time to start the night survey I was playing around with the off camera flash capability of my 7D (with my 430ex). This little caterpillar was about 1.5 cm long. white cheeked honey eater. I have now photographed more than 70 species of birds in Australia, still a few to go.

I have now photographed more than 70 species of birds in Australia, still a few to go.

The Wallum sedge frog (Litoria olongburensis). It’s status is vulnerable (IUCN 3.1) and this is a brown morph. It is quite hard to imagine how weird it is to find these little guys by temperature between 2 and 8 degrees Celsius.

.South Section of Cooloola.

On the south section, it was a little bit more beachy. We had the camp next to the sea, and this was my house for five epic days.

Here is some pictures of the locals, now good friends of mine. Quelques images des locaux, des bon potes maintenant.

The young joey was always in the pouch, and he was right because it was quite chilly outside.

Storm and rain incoming, I think I forgot to close my tent…

The team on the long way to plot 5.

A lot of birdwatching during these 5 days, saw so many cool stuff.

I’ll leave you on this pictures I called the “Lorikeet love “

LOVE that gracilenta pic! Definitely worthy of the earthshots award – though I reckon you could make money printing some of these, they’re excellent. Some of your best yet!

    P.S. : I agree with David .
