Macro Photography using a Canon MPE-65mm

This will be a short post, but I had to share my short experience and thoughst about this incredible lens. I borrowed it from my entomology teacher and played around for couple of hours. It is probably the most “complicated” lens I have ever used. No autofocus and no focus ring either… You choose your magnification and make the focus by finding the right distance to your subject. I managed to get some interesting shots of ants, leaf hoppers larvae, and many small insects. Even some shots of the insect from my entomological collection.

J’ai reussi a fair quelques images sympas :

Here are some of the best shots :

Wild Ant & Pinned Bull ant.

Focusing was really difficult, specially with the wind…

Spitlle Bug in his “spit”

Nasute termites soldiers (Nasutitermes exitiosus)

I like these little larvaes, I took some shots of them with the 105 Macro Sigma two weeks ago. You can see that the ratio on the MPE is incredible, the head of this insect was about 1,5mm long…

It was a good experience and I learned a lot 🙂

I wish I could afford one, but you have to get the mt24ex flash light, without it’s impossible. Makes the whale bill 2.3k$ 🙁
